Targetting European Market, ETI has participated in InterBattery Europe 2024

EnerTech International will build a GIGA Factory in South Africa
Energy Tech International, a secondary battery manufacturer, will build a battery plant up to 10 gigawatt-hour (GWh) in South Africa. It is aimed at local energy storage (ESS) demand, and about 1 trillion won worth of investment will be made. It is the first time for a Korean company to build a battery plant in Africa.EnerTech International announced on the 9th that it recently signed a $6 million (about 8.2 billion won) feasibility review contract after signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with South African companies ASIME and CoEng in March. Through a feasibility review, the site, size, and exact investment cost of the South African battery plant will be determined.The company expects a factory with an annual production capacity of 8-10GWh to be built, given the local demand for lithium-ion batteries. As it usually costs 100 billion won to build a 1GWh factory, up to 1 trillion won in investment is expected.Investor Asime and the South African government will jointly raise funds, and Co-Engineering will be in charge of factory construction and infrastructure construction. Energy Tech International technology is used in the battery production line. "EnerTech International will lead the business in areas other than financing and factory construction," said Yoo Sik-jung, chief product officer (CPO) of EnerTech International.Construction will begin in the second half of the year when the feasibility study, which takes about a year, is completed next year. The goal is to start operation after the completion of the plant in 2027 and mass-produce batteries.Enertech International is working with its South African partners to build a battery plant because of a severe power shortage there. According to the Institute for International Economic Policy, Eskom, the South African power company, produces 24,700 megawatts (MW) of electricity, but its demand is 31,400MW, which is in short supply. South African President Cyril Ramaphosa declared a state of disaster due to the worst power shortage in February last year.Accordingly, South Africa is planning to produce batteries for ESS and respond to power shortages. It is known that the South African government is actively working on building battery factories, and Eskom is also showing its intention to participate in the project.Enertech International is expected to become the first Korean company to establish a battery production line in Africa. The company is building two battery plants with annual production capacity of 4GWh in Moscow and Kaliningrad, Russia, and will expand their operations to South Africa. In Chungju, Korea, the company operates a 500 megawatt hour (MWh) battery plant."EnerTech International procures most of its facilities from Korean companies, so the construction of local factories will help Korean companies enter the South African market," Yoo said. Participating in InterBattery 2024
579 companies and institutions, the largest ever, participated in the Interbattery Exhibition, which marks its 12th anniversary this year, and competed for the present and future of battery technology. What Enertech achieved in 1H2023
The first half of 2023 is already over…Enertech doubled its revenues (W23bln in 1H2023in comparison to W12bln in 1H2022). Electrode team started to work 3 groups 2 shifts from third of July to meet the growing market demand for our products.More and more talented people applied and among them around 90 new comers have successfully on boarded ETI including contractors this year. IT Team has finished the digital project of Intranet installation (UNIPORTAL by Bizentro Co.) that will improve internal communications and speed-up decision making.Enertech has got all the new equipment from suppliers (This investment project started in 2022 will triple the production capacity). Enertech International Promotion Celebration for 2023
On May 31, Enertech International Inc. held "2023 Promotion Celebration" in the conference room on the first floor of the main building of the first plant. This year, 14 promotions (11 regular promotions, 3 special promotions) were evaluated according to strict procedures (multiple 360 evaluations and evaluations by executives) and were carefully reviewed by the Personnel Committee. What Enertech has accomplished in 2022
On May 11, 2023 the Shareholders Meeting of Enertech Int approved the Financial Statements for 2022. It was previously confirmed by the external auditor (Big 4).For the first time in many years, we managed to finish the year with a profit. This became real due to the well-coordinated work of the entire team of the Company. Sales&Marketing team significantly increased the sales by developing new niches in foreign markets. The Production team coped with the enlarged orders thanks to the responsibility of the staff and the quality work of the Purchasing team. R&D divisions were able to seriously ramp up the revenue for their services.The goal for 2023 is to double the revenue.For this, a new product has been developed, additional equipment has been purchased, and staff is being recruited. Enertech International signed Investment Agreement
January 17th 2023, Enertech International signed an investment Agreement with the Governor of Chungcheongbuk-do province and the Mayor of Chungju-si.This Agreement contains main implementations of Enertech International investments and administrative support from Chungcheongbuk-do and Chungju-si.During 2023~2024, Enertech International will invest 35billion KRW in facility and equipment expansion to produce next generation of secondary battery modules and packs.The investments will allow to recruit 150 new employees in 2023~2024. Enertech invests KRW 35 billion in factory expansion in 2023
Enertech International (Enertech / ETI) will invest KRW 35 billion in the expansion of secondary battery plants. Through expansion, the production scale will be more than tripled.Founded in 2001, Enertech produces secondary batteries for electric vehicles and energy storage systems (ESS). The current production scale is 150MWh. Enertech will expand its factory to close the technology gap with the three major domestic battery companies and lay the foundation for growth. Investment is to expand its production capacity to 500MWh next year.The expansion line produces more than 3 million 60Ah battery cells per year. It has a nickel-cobalt-manganese ratio of 8:1:1. Both secondary batteries and ESS can be applied, and test discussions are underway with customers. Enertech expects to be able to acquire new customers in Korea and the United States through the expansion.Enertech also invests in building for module and pack assembly automation lines. Three modular automated assembly lines and one pack assembly line will be put into operation in May next year. Enertech aims to enter the module and pack assembly business for electric vehicles after 2024 through the construction of an automation line.Enertech has also developed special-purpose lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells and hybrid vehicle (HEV) cells, and have acquired customers in the development stage.Enertech official said, "ETI is aiming to supply the products produced by the new module and pack assembly line to domestic and foreign automakers," adding, "ETI will continue to invest in a virtuous cycle factory operation structure centered on the cells produced through expansion."Enertech International researcher examines batteries at the research center관리자
